Parkside Villa

Parkside Villa is a 9,100-square-foot transformation of an existing residence in Boulder, Colorado. Preserving the original foundation, the project reimagines every spatial and material layer to support contemporary family living rooted in clarity, proportion, and light. The renovation is guided by subtraction and refinement. Circulation was simplified, axial relationships strengthened, and gathering spaces re-centered as the heart of the home. Rather than enlarging the footprint, the design elevates the experience, creating a modern residence grounded in order and restraint. Located within an established Boulder neighborhood, the home balances openness with privacy. Horizontal massing, linear brick, Thermory cladding, steel detailing, and expansive glazing establish a composed architectural expression responsive to Colorado’s climate and seasonal light. Outdoor rooms extend the living environment while maintaining a strong relationship to landscape. Walnut millwork and layered natural materials define the interior architecture. Integrated lighting, custom built-ins, and restrained detailing create cohesion throughout the home. Furnishings were curated to reinforce warmth within a clean-lined framework, supporting both everyday living and a carefully considered art collection. Material transitions remain quiet and intentional, allowing proportion, texture, and light to shape the experience rather than ornament. A rooftop photovoltaic array and whole-house battery backup enhance resilience and long-term performance. Envelope upgrades and high-efficiency mechanical systems improve energy efficiency while supporting year-round comfort in Boulder’s variable climate. Sustainable strategies are embedded within the architecture, ensuring performance aligns with the home’s modern expression.
