Austin Patterson Disston Architects Vernacular Redefined

Description

This house distills the simple ve acular forms and classic architectural elements into a hybrid suited for mode living. The entry pays respect to the organization of the traditional façade in a mode way.  Shingled window retu s replace traditional casing work, and the traditional entry pediment is redefined with a floating plane. The staircase allows visual transparency vertically between three levels, and horizontally from living room to breakfast room. Large expanses of glass allow for the interplay between outside gardens and interior living areas. A roof deck is bordered with a sedum roof continuing the relationship between the architecture and the landscape.
