City Park Residence - image 2 of 11

Perched along a verdant slope overlooking downtown Austin, the City Park Residence is conceived as a quiet, modern insertion into the rugged beauty of the Texas Hill Country. The home is thoughtfully woven into the site, capitalizing on dramatic panoramic views where the rolling hills of western Austin meet the urban skyline, with the iconic Pennybacker Bridge anchoring the foreground. Approach to the residence is choreographed as a gradual reveal. Arrival is marked by a bridge that threads between preserved oak trees, lightly touching the land as it spans a sculpted topography reimagined by Hocker Design Group. This landscape intervention delicately restores the limestone scar left by the previous home’s demolition, creating a renewed dialogue between built form and terrain. The architecture unfolds in a U-shaped plan on the upper level, framing a central outdoor courtyard. This elevated volume floats above the terrain, creating a transparent connector between the programmatic wings and offering uninterrupted views outward.  Exterior circulation flows through and around the home, linking to an expansive lawn terrace on the city-facing side. Here, outdoor amenities including a pool, a sport court, and a multi-use pavilion are positioned to support both daily living and larger gatherings.
