Scott Allen Architecture specializes in creative designs of enduring value and integrity.
An award-winning architect and fine artist, Scott Allen crafts spaces in which people love to live and work. Scott brings 30 years of experience, an encyclopedic understanding of building and architecture, and genuine enthusiasm to every project. The result is creatively conceived, carefully executed design that celebrates the unique attributes of every site and the distinctive needs and desires of each client.
Scott founded his current firm in 2009, after many years as the managing partner of the Seattle-based firm Olson Sundberg Kundig Allen Architects (OSKA). This new chapter is Scott’s career was motivated by the desire to return to what he does best – working closely with each client to create unique, sustainable, and thoughtfully-crafted architecture.
Scott Allen Architecture offers clients a broad range of experience, honed by more than two decades working with private clients, public institutions, and other entities. With his strong network of professional colleagues and building industry leaders, Scott creates and leads the right team for each project and delivers architecture that combines two critical but often elusive qualities – creative design and lasting value.
Scott’s architecture responds naturally to each client’s individual program and site. His exacting approach to design carefully balances rigorous process with strong design intuition. He builds an understanding of his client’s ideas, their specific needs and the unique qualities of the building’s site to establish a strong conceptual framework. The strength of these ‘bones’ allow the design to evolve naturally, as the more detailed aspects of the project are developed. Through this process the give-and-take of ideas between everyone involved is welcomed and encouraged. This collaborative process helps Scott create architecture that truly responds to all the factors that influence it, from the big idea to the most subtle nuance.
Scott’s extensive resume includes major roles in the creation of several large, complex projects including the Tacoma Art Museum and the Seattle University School of Law. In addition, Scott has led in the design of numerous private residences. During Scott’s era of leadership at OSKA, the firm was honored with the 2009 National American Institute of Architects Firm of the Year Award.
Scott is a graduate of the University of Washington, where he received a BA in Environmental Design, and the Graduate School of Fine Arts at the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned his Master of Architecture degree.
