PATH Architecture is a firm headed by Corey Martin and Ben Kaiser. Since meeting in 1994, Corey and Ben have collaborated on the design and construction of many successful commercial and residential projects. They formed PATH Architecture in early 2005 to capitalize on this successful 12-year relationship, combining their talents with those their staff to create an architecture firm offering the highest level of design complimented with strong development and construction experience.
Too often architects work under delusion about a client’s budget, and when bids come in high for construction the team must scramble to make last minute changes to fit the budget, resulting in schedule delay and a diluted design. We design, develop and construct many of our own projects. This architect-led design/develop/build model has given PATH a unique understanding of the value of design as both an owner and a general contractor. We are therefore uniquely qualified to balance our client’s scope and budget with feedback throughout the design process while ensuring that our compelling design vision and inspiring spaces remain intact. Our primary inspiration to adopt this working method comes from our desire to create lasting and meaningful architecture. If we can maintain control of the entire process we can ensure that the design is expressed in the process as well as the final product.
PATH’s experience ranges from the macro scale of creating visionary development plans based on shifting economic trends and more sustainable lifestyles, holding a seat on the Design Commission of the City of Portland to the micro detail of highly crafted furniture making and jewelry design. This breadth from big picture to meticulous detail allows us to give form to our clients’ aspirations while adhering to their budget and schedule in accordance with current best practices of construction.
We keep a lean dedicated staff qualified to work on a broad range of building types and then we assemble teams of expert consultants to pursue more specialized projects, ensuring that we have the most up to date and nimble approach.
