Kanner Architects believes that every project is a special endeavor and that superior modern architecture is achieved by fulfilling our clients' needs with thorough planning, cost-effective, cutting-edge, sustainable design, and sensitivity to all aspects of the site.
Whether projects are large or small, urban or rural, Kanner Architects embraces the notion that buildings are meant to be functional, but must also be places of joy--open and accessible, timeless and inspirational. Every project must enhance the built environment.
The firm focuses on energy-efficient and environmentally-sensitive design; the built environment has a profound impact on our natural eco-systems, economy, health, and productivity. We aim to design green buildings that maximize their economic and environmental performance.
Established by I. Herman Kanner, AIA, in 1946, Kanner Architects will celebrate its 64th continuous year of quality and innovative design work in Los Angeles in 2010. The firm has been led by Charles G. Kanner, FAIA, who became president in 1974, and his son, Stephen H. Kanner, FAIA, who became president in 1998 and continues to lead the firm in its third generation. Stephen Kanner is the founder and remains chairman of the Architecture + Design (A+D) Museum in Los Angeles and was 2005 president of the Los Angeles Chapter of American Institute of Architects.
As a widely published and internationally recognized design firm, Kanner Architects has garnered over four-dozen design awards in recent years, most from the local, state, and national chapters of the American Institute of Architects.
