Meridian 105 was founded by Chad Mitchell. Chad comes from one of the most prominent design firms in the world, Murphy/Jahn Architects, where among his rich background of project experience is the Shanghai New International Expo Center in China and the Suvarnabhumi Airport in Thailand. As a Senior Architect with Murphy/Jahn he directed the work of several projects earning national AIA design honors, including the State Street Village student dorms at the campus of the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.
Throughout his practice, Chad's expertise has lied in the design of custom enclosure systems, working as a firm specialist in a collaborative process with groups such as Permasteelisa and Gartner. While practicing at Murphy/Jahn he was a key designer in the development of some of the first buildings constructed with twin glazed curtain walls. Additionally, he made industry strides in the design of custom fabricated metal skins and building screens, working with fabricators to create new aesthetics in this building material.
In over 13 years of practice, Chad has played a key role in the development of a variety of landmark projects around the world. He has practiced architecture in multiple capacities developing a broad perspective and knowledge base from collective experience as a designer, project manager, and enclosure specialist. His portfolio includes a body of in-depth research and built work across a wide range of project types, including transportation, housing, civic, educational, and commercial office. Chad's housing portfolio is extensive, having planned living space across a wide market, from affordable to luxury, single to multi-family dwelling, student, and hospitality uses.
